Health 2.0 9th Annual Fall Conference 2015
Missed the event? You can catch the action through our online archival video portal or have a flash drive of videos sent to your door. More information here.
Health 2.0 was back in Silicon Valley October 4-7, 2015 to examine how another year impacted and changed health care technology. This was our largest event yet with over 150 LIVE product demos, 130+ speakers, dozens of company launches, merger announcements, engaging panel discussion with expert speakers, and 3 1/2 days of prime networking.
Innovating Care Delivery Symposium
Join us for Health 2.0's first daylong Innovating Care Delivery Symposium. This event will bring together hospital & other provider executives with technologists to tackle the biggest challenges facing health systems today.
To truly drive change in health care, innovation needs to occur at both an operational level as well as in the day-to-day workflow of clinical care. The symposium unites those worlds with classic Health 2.0 demos of the latest technology designed to improve the lives of these key stakeholders, as well as meaningful discussion anchored by case studies of pilots using new technology, or developing innovation within from forward-thinking institutions like UCSF, Mt Sinai, Ascension and Advocate.
By gathering the right people, technologies, and systems into a single room, the Innovating Care Delivery Symposium will foster debate and spark the exchange of ideas between the best minds from leading health care systems in an effort to change the face of health care as we know it.
Full-time practicing health care providers may apply to attend this pre-conference session and the full Health 2.0 conference free of charge by completing this form.
This full-day event requires an additional fee on top of the regular Health 2.0 ticket.

Workshop: Designing Interventions for Health Behavior Change
Mounting evidence implicates the pivotal role of behavior in various health outcomes, disease processes, and well-being, as well as health care costs. Given the importance of behavior to population health, many approaches have been taken to steer health behaviors in the right direction with varying degrees of success.
Facilitated by Dustin DiTommaso of Mad*Pow This highly participatory workshop is intended to bring together relevant theories, practical frameworks and tools from behavioral and social science, health and motivational psychology to systematically diagnose the roots of health behavior problems and design intervention solutions (digital or otherwise) directly targeting the causal processes that regulate behavior. Through short presentations, discussions, individual and group activities, participants will strengthen their understanding of human motivation, determinants of health behavior and more.

Workshop: Executive Coaching For Success With Margaret Cary
Unbiased feedback is often difficult, if not impossible. Coaching can help one find and improve their leadership style, and having a trusted, impartial advisor immune to the cyclical stress and insanity of start-ups can be of massive value. For non-physician health entrepreneurs understanding the viewpoint and experience of physicians is one of the most challenging aspects of innovating in health care. Doctors are busy, usually overwhelmed, and have a short attention span, with an even shorter attention span for new products/tech relating to their work.
Join Margaret Cary, MD, MBA, MPH, called the “Doctor Whisperer” by her clients for a fast paced, highly interactive workshop on “Executive Coaching for Success,” which includes the evidence for coaching’s effectiveness, what to look for in a coach, a real-time coaching demonstration and supervised training. Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for Just in Time Coach Training from The Cary Group.

Workshop: Designing Innovative Healthcare Apps - A Design Thinking Workshop
This workshop tackles the key issue facing clinicians, patients and consumers when trying to use healthcare related applications: their inability to integrate it seamlessly into their workflow or life flow - which in turn diminishes their desire to use it! Join Lorraine Chapman, HIMSS HIT Usability Committee Chair and Geoff Parker, Director Healthcare, Software Development Macadamian to learn how to apply human-centered driven techniques to your product development process to create simple and meaningful user interactions with your app.
Workshop attendees will gain a deep understanding of: The 5 key principles of design thinking, how to employ a user-centred design framework to build a Health app, and how to ensure the creation of a product that users will want to, be able to and continue to use.

Validating Performance in Healthcare and Turning the Dial on Credibility
If you want the real story about whether a wellness program or health product worked, you want valid, accurate measures. Getting the real story is the topic of our lively panel discussion at Health 2.0 hosted by the Validation Institute. This frank and informative discussion will cover the what, why and how of measuring impact validly, as well how accurate measures affect the credibility of the healthcare ecosystem.
The Validation Institute was launched in 2014 by Intel-GE Care Innovations to impartially challenge the status quo of health outcomes measurement. It helps organizations involved in population health - from health plans to employers to vendors; and from start-ups to established companies - adhere to the highest standards of validity, allowing them to compete on the basis of integrity and performance rather than hyperbole.
Please complete this short form if you're interested in attending this session.
Doing What Works (vs. What’s Conventional): Five Research-backed Principles to Create a High Performance Wellness Program
With noise in the popular press, it’s natural to question the value of wellness. Does wellness work? Do incentives drive outcomes? How can you achieve broad and sustained engagement and behavior change? Don’t believe everything you think about wellness. A successful model meets people where they are and takes advantage of links between program and reward design, engagement, and outcomes to enhance program performance.
Join serial entrepreneur and behavior designer Eric Zimmerman to learn powerful ways to design for behavior, recognize budget-sapping mistakes in design, preview original research revealing whether outcome-based designs produce better outcomes, successfully blend digital and clinical interventions, and get practical techniques to create a more engaging population health strategy

The Unmentionables
For the seventh installment of the Unmentionables we’re making the argument that what used to be taboo may now finally be gaining the attention it deserves…topics like sex, divorce, death of a loved one, a bad boss – everyday new evidence arises that these life factors don’t just influence health – they can define it. With the silver tsunami so too will come new challenges – and opportunities…like the isolating grip of caregiver stress, financial fraud and abuse of seniors, and the opportunity to do death well. And if the definition of health needs to be expanded to include life because when life goes wrong, health goes wrong – then maybe the ultimate disease management program would be the one that got you a job. We’ll be talking about all that – plus the role empathy can (MUST) have in consumer driven design.

Patients can rest assured that their condition is continuously managed and their questions are answered.

BREAKOUT: Arc Fusion: Getting real about the convergence of health IT and biomedicine
While there is huge promise with the convergence of health IT and biomedicine to dramatically improve patient outcomes, there are many challenges to actually implementing, adopting and complying these innovative technologies from all sides: from regulators, payers, the hospital, the doctor or HCP, and the patient.
What do hospitals and doctors need to adopt health IT technologies? And just as important, what do patients need and want in order to help themselves?
For instance, doctors require qualitative clinical validation to confirm health IT data. We want this, too, as patients and consumers. And yet much of the data and information produced by health IT lacks clinical validation, while many of the "truths" patients have heard in the media or through non-FDA approved sources remain unproven. For example, who says that we all should be walking 10,000 steps a day? There is little or no science behind this arbitrary measurement, or its impact on a person’s health.
Arc Fusion will be presenting a how-to panel on the down-and-dirty to make health IT products work for biomedicine and for everyone: hospitals, researchers, doctors, and patients.
What's the Magic Ingredient for Successful Health IT Organizations? (Hint: It Starts With 'W')
Join a group of experienced women in leadership positions across settings (start-up, consulting, patient advocacy, venture capital, academic centers and large organizations) and learn how they created a career path for themselves. We will also provide a positive blueprint for including women in leadership teams and share evidence for why this is a winning company strategy.
