David Kale


David is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science and a Viterbi Dean’s Doctoral Fellow at the University of Southern California, supervised by Yan Liu. He works on a variety of topics in machine learning, including active learning and time series analysis, with applications to health and medical problems. ┬áDavid is also affiliated with the Whittier Virtual PICU Lab of Children’s Hospital LA. His work with the VPICU involves applying statistical data mining to digital physiologic time series data, with the goal of building new predictive models and diagnostic tools. David is a also co-founder of the annual Meaningful Use of Complex Medical Data (MUCMD) Symposium, the pre-eminent forum for research on applying machine learning to clinical data, and a co-organizer of the LA Machine Learning meetup.
