David Payne leads the digital team responsible for electronically publishing BMJ’s flagship general medical journal, in print since 1840 and online since 1995. The BMJ’s digital content includes articles, user-generated comments, blogs, audio, video, infographics, apps, and social media, with separate digital editions for the US, India, UK, and ROW. David’s journalistic career began 25 years ago in local newspapers. He then worked for UK GP and nursing titles, and a dotcom start-up. He joined joined BMJ in 2008 after six years as website editor at the UK Food Standards Agency. He is also the journals’ readers’ editor.
