As a contributing editor at Wired magazine, Gary’s long written about the culture of science and technology with so much distinction that last year, he won the AAAS Kavli Science Journalism prize. But we’re really interested in Gary because he’d the co-founder with Wired magazine’s Kevin Kelly, of The Quantified Self movement (QS). Starting as group of somewhat self-obsessed geeks (we could have been less kind!) tracking every aspect of their existence, QS now has its own regional chapters, its own conferences, a RWJF-funded directory of tools and is regarded as the place to see the evolu- tion of consumer self-tracking–it’s veering dangerously mainstream! But Gary asks his QS present- era, “How did you do it? What did you learn?” Good questions for all of us interested in Health 2.0′s impact on health care.
