Dr. Jahan Ali is a Senior Vice President at New York City Investment Fund Manager, Inc. She managed the fund’s investments in the health care sector, including the BioAccelerate NYC Prize competition. Prior to joining NYCIF, Dr. Ali ran her own technology commercialization consulting business, where she worked with entrepreneurs and not for profit research and product development partnerships. Prior to this, she was a Director of Technology Licensing at HSS Ventures (HSSV). Prior to that, she was the Director of Technology Transfer at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where she focused on creating partnerships and licensing in the orthopedic sector. At HSSV, Dr. Ali worked with faculty members, entrepreneurs, pharmaceutical industry, biotech companies, and the members of the investment community to license orthopedic and rheumatology related technologies, to launch new ventures, and capture market value based on technology innovations. Prior to joining HSSV, she was the Associate Director of Business Development at Mojave Therapeutics, where Dr. Ali successfully identified synergistic partnership opportunities, research collaborations and competitor market research. Dr. Ali was the Senior Licensing Associate at Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Office of Industrial Liaison. Till date, she has negotiated numerous licensing agreements as well as options and research and development collaborations for both HSS and non-HSS inventors. Dr. Ali has held positions conducting basic research at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Rockefeller University. She has also done freelance science writing. Dr. Ali holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from New York University Medical Center.
