Dr. Liviu Klein, a cardiologist at the UCSF Heart and Vascular Center, is Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Failure Device Program. He specializes in treating patients with heart failure and arrhythmias, including patients before and after heart transplants. He also has expertise in cardiac resynchronization and mechanical therapies such as ventricular assist devices for heart failure. Together with colleagues in the department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences at UCSF, he is developing new technologies for monitoring and treating patients with cardiovascular disease (including heart failure), and for those who use ventricular assist devices. He is also working on developing clinical decision support systems.
