Dr. Tetsuya Mitsudomi is a Professor at the Division of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Kinki University Faculty of Medicine. Graduating from the Kyushu University School of Medicine in 1980, Dr. Mitsudomi received his doctoral degree in medicine from the Kyushu University Graduate School of Medical Sciences in 1886. In 1988 he worked as an assistant in the Department of Surgery II, Kyushu University Faculty of Medicine, and from 1989 to 1991 he was a visiting fellow at the National Cancer Institute in the USA, where he conducted molecular biological research on lung cancer. In 1991, Dr. Mitsudomi joined the University of Occupational and Environmental Health as an instructor in the Department of Surgery II, and after returning to the Department of Surgery II, Kyushu University Faculty of Medicine, as an associate professor, in 1995 he joined the Aichi Cancer Center as Chief of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, becoming Vice-Director of the Center in 2006. He took up his current position as Professor at the Division of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Kinki University Faculty of Medicine in 2012. In addition to specializing in the surgical treatment of lung cancer, Dr. Mitsudomi also has a deeply intimate knowledge of molecular targeted therapy.
