The Next Generation of Communities Part 1: Data Mining and Discovery Platforms
After lunch on day 1 of the Health 2.0 Fall Conference in San Francisco, October 7-8, 2010, the attendees came back to the main stage to listen to a three part session called The Next Generation of Communities. The first part was about the data mining and discovery aspect of online communities. Online social networks in health are changing rapidly and the use of more common platforms. A video about Dr.Jeff M. Livingston from MacArthur OB/GYN, began this session because it was an example of the everyday life platforms, like FaceBook, being used with a clinical practice.
The rest of the session focused on the panelist Gilles Frydman, Founder, ACOR, Benjamin Heywood, President and Director, PatientsLikeMe, and Gideon Mantel, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, First Life Research. Gilles and Ben were no strangers to the Health 2.0 stage and they gave the audience updates about their companies. But Gideon made his debut by introducing his company for the first time.
