National LambdaRail, which uses 12,000 miles of optical fiber to connect universities and federal laboratories, will collaborate with AT&T. AT&T will deliver high bandwidth connectivity to NLR’s network infrastructure to better connect major cancer centers, universities, medical schools, research hospitals and labs across the United States.

Personal health application developer Azumio acquired SkyHealth. With the acquisition, Azumio gains Sky’s CEO Tom Xu as well as its product portfolio, which includes Fitness Buddy and Glucose Buddy.

Health record and practice management company Hello Health partnered with 5 O’clock records. Now physicians using Hello Health will be able to fill requests for medical records online through the 5 O’clock system.

Nuance Healthcare, a provider of voice recognition technology, will deploy its Dragon Medical 360 | Network Edition across Providence Health & Services. The deployment will make Dragon Medical available at 27 hospitals and 250 clinics.

Athenahealth partnered with Health Management Associates to bring its practice management and electronic health records systems to HMA‘s 1,200 health care providers in 300 locations.

The 450 members of the National eHealth Collaborative Health Information Exchange Learning Network were polled on their consumer engagement strategies. More than half of the organizations said consumer engagement ranked high on their list of priorities, but only 33% said their strategies are clearly defined.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality issued a request for information on strategies and challenges around health information technology that enables quality measurement. The deadline for comments is Aug. 20.
