Allscripts Open App Challenge Winners Announced!
Health 2.0 congratulates the winners of the Allscripts Open App Challenge announced today at the annual Allscripts Client Experience Conference in Chicago! The 5 winners received a total of $600,000 in prizes with the Overall Winner, Healthfinch Refill Wizard, receiving $250,000.
Allscripts first announced the challenge, powered by Health 2.0, in October 2012 at the Health 2.0 Annual Fall Conference, when Phase 1 began. Out of over 100 submissions, 15 finalists were awarded prizes totalling $150,000 at the close of Phase 1 in February. Nearly 50 teams continued on to Phase 2, which concluded in July.
The goal of the Allscripts Open App Challenge was to incorporate new features thought up by developers outside of the company into Allscripts’ EHR through the Allscripts Developer Program. Apps developed fell into two categories: category A involved tools that help providers manage patients with high-cost chronic diseases and category B dealt with apps that assist providers as they make the transition to value-based care.
In Phase 2 developers completed their apps and installed them at an Allscripts client site. Evaluations of the submissions included a review of client testimonials and data from the pilots.
The 5 winners include:
Overall Winner and $250,000 Prize recipient: Healthfinch Refill Wizard, which makes life easier for physicians by automating and delegating one of their most menial chores – dealing with medication renewals.
1st Runner Up and $100,000 Prize recipient: ePREOP, which provides scheduling and authorization tools, clinical decision support, and discrete data transfer services between various health records.
2nd Runner Up and $100,000 Prize recipient: Keona Health, which reduces time spent on unreimbursed calls, allowing practices to see more patients and increase revenue. Helps physicians put down the phone and see more patients.
3rd Runner Up and $75,000 Prize recipient: YouScript/Genelex, which evaluates overall adverse drug event risk, identifies at-risk patients, and recommends safer more effective drug regimens so prescribers can improve drug treatment outcomes.
4th Runner Up and $75,000 Prize recipient: eDoc4u, which captures patient health risk assessments, delivers evidence-based clinical analysis and risk summaries at point-of-care, creates personalized health programs, identifies gaps in care and manages outreach.
Health 2.0 is thrilled to see the results of this revolutionary challenge project! This has been a truly transformative challenge project for the Developer Challenge Team and we’re excited to energize the growth of the challenge winners.
