Imprivata confidentially submitted a draft registration statement with the SEC to conduct an IPO. This news comes just days after reports of a Castlight IPO.

The Veterans Health Administration and Kaiser Permanente will pool resources and ideas as part of the Veterans Affairs Center of Innovation Partnership Program. The two organizations will research and share best practices in connected health and virtual care, genomics, and advanced analytics to leverage innovative uses of large data sets and population management.

The University City Science Center in Philadelphia began accepting applications for its Digital Health Accelerator, which will provide up to $50,000 in funding and other benefits for as many as six companies in the digital health or HIT sector.

AT&T appointed Eric Topol, MD (Scripps Health) Chief Medical Advisor. Dr. Topol will impact the design, development and delivery of AT&T’s health care IT solutions.

Patients may obtain their test results directly from the laboratory that produced them, without having to go through their doctors, according to new regulations. The rule supersedes state law and will have particular significance in 13 states that prohibit labs from releasing test results directly to patients.

Virtual mail-order pharmacy PillPack launched in 31 states, thanks in part to an infusion of $4 million in venture capital. For $20 a month, PillPack delivers prescriptions in pre-packaged envelopes for each day of the week.

Wellness app maker Noom secured an additional $2.9 million, bringing their latest round to $7 million. The round was led by RRE Ventures with participation from several other investors.

GNS Healthcare, a health care big data and analytics company, completed a $10 million Series B financing round. Cambia Health Solutions, a Series A investor, was joined in the round by two additional strategic investors.
