ChipAch-300x300Chip Ach, Lead Developer of the More Disruption Please program, is the next preview of the HxRefactored Conference .

What is your burning mission in health and why?

CA: I want to make sure that everyone–providers and patients alike–has access to tools and services that make it easier to deliver and receive care. This requires not just to being open to innovation, but actively fostering it. Constant, dogged innovation is central to athenahealth’s mission: to be physicians’ most trusted resource, helping them do well doing the right thing.

What is your patient story?

CA: Over the last 6 years, I’ve struggled to recover from leg issues that have prevented me from running, which is my biggest stress reliever. This means that I’ve gained far too much weight which, in turn, makes it harder to get back to running, which leads to more stress, and so on. Patient agency is a huge part of being healthy, and I’m interested in how technology can foster that.

What new health-related website, app, or technology do you think will improve health?

CA: I’m excited by the continued acceptance and improvements in the Quantified Self arena, but I’m not convinced that there is one magic technology out there. Solutions which combine services and technology are what I think will make the biggest difference.

Why should people come to your session?

CA: It will be an insider’s view of how a relatively large company has worked to foster innovation. That’s not a story you hear every day.
