RelayHealth has grown from its beginnings as a physician eVisit service, to becoming a core SaaS platform connecting doctors, hospitals, and consumers. Now part of giant McKesson, more recently RelayHealth has set its sights on integrating with the world of health information exchanges. They’ve been so instrumental that ONC has “borrowed” RelayHealth’s Arien Malec to lead the charge on NHIN Direct. Luckily Terry is here to keep us in touch with RelayHealth’s latest developments.
Geoff Hyatt, VP Business Development, Alere (formerly RMD Networks)
RMD Networks is one of the new leaders in providing a platform for patient-physician communication applications, including Reach My Doctor and the Carespace. In early 2010 it was acquired by Alere to extend the DM giant’s reach into the physician arena, and CEO Steve Adams is prominent in the Clinical Groupware Collaborative. Geo is an early investor in RMD, now working there running business development—that is when he’s not pursuing his real calling of being a youth soccer coach.
Martin Pellinat, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, VisionTree Systems
VisionTree is filling in the cracks of health care communications. They’re replacing paper in the communications between patients and doctors in teaching hospitals across the nation, managing multi-site and multi-national clinical trials, and allowing doctors to manage their referral networks. Martin founded the company but you might still bump into him if you make a random visit to UCSF or UCLA.
Ryan Howard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Practice Fusion
Practice Fusion offers a free ad-supported SaaS-based EMR and practice management system for docs. Ryan founded the company four years ago and they’ve grown to nearly 40,000 users (including 20,000 physicians). In 2010 cloud-computing giant Salesforce.com invested, and PracticeFusion has rolled out sharing and patient-facing applications.

Matt has been at DestinationRx since 2002, and things really got wild when they won the contract for the price comparison system for Medicare Part D. Here Matt shows us how he developed the Rxaminer therapeutic alternatives product line, and launched the Medicare.gov Plan Finder website and Online Enrollment Center.
