Physicians and health professionals increasingly use web, mobile and social technologies to share medical information, teach medical students, and collaborate on research projects or patient cases. This session showcases platforms and tools that allow health professionals to tap into a global network of knowledge and ask second opinions from specialists across the globe.
Macrina is the force behind Fundacion Recover, a project supported by both individuals and organizations working to make healthcare more accessible in the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Founded in Spain in 2006, the foundation trains a range of health professionals (doctors, nurses, aides, etc.), manages and oversees health settings, recruits volunteers and sponsors, and raises awareness of pressing health concerns across the African continent. In this session Macrina is showing us how web and social technologies allow physicians from Africa to collaborate and request second opinions from physicians in Spain.
