NaviNet: Deep Dive

![]() |
Frank Ingari, CEO of Navinet introduces a new trend emerging in which market-leading U.S. payers are utilizing the advanced EMR-to-EMR integration technologies that have been funded by the international Health Information Exchange (HIE) movement to “stand up” payer-specific clinical integration networks. By integrating these clinical integration networks with real-time payer-provider transaction systems Navinet ensures that clinical information is connected to well-established reimbursement workflows. The resulting hybrid applications—such as an HIE-enriched Referral and Authorization application—ensures that clinical adoption is tied directly to value-based reimbursement, is patient-specific, and represents the most current administrative and clinical information. This Deep Dive examined the architecture of the payer-sponsored clinical integration network and the opportunities it opens for HIT entrepreneurs.
Secure adaptable networks are emerging as a critical enabler of healthcare reform. Big Data investments have demonstrated promise, but results are inconclusive and slow in coming. Many believe improvements in cost, quality, and patient experience will require a robust multifunctional network that can help coordinate care across the decentralized, heterogeneous system of payers, agencies, hospitals, labs, specialists, and primary care physicians. This presentation described a vision of the Healthcare Communications Network, built as a software platform, with multiple communications modalities ranging from real-time intervention to messaging to secure data file transfers. NaviNet, already operating a nationwide communications network, is expanding its offering to become such a platform.
