Berlin Code-a-thon Winner – Jog of War
The Health 2.0 Berlin Code-a-Thon 2012 was an intense 2 days of rapid prototyping and creative health-hacking. The event culminated in a judging session in which Jog of War took home the first place title! Their app allows users to compete against their friends to conquer virtual territory while they run.

Ken was at Ireland’s National Digital Research Centre when, with Trinity College Dublin and Parents Plus at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, he created SilverCloud. It’s a platform for a broad range of engaging computerized therapeutic programs from depression and anxiety to addictions. Ken also co-owns Pay Less Tax, an online tax return. Perhaps he’s planning a third venture — an online community for tax evaders?

For two years Valentina has been working on a research project for a PhD at Utrecht University about under-standing persuasive strategies for serious games. Currently she is working on developing “playful solutions to life problems”, helping design Playful Pandas “Blues Buddies” iPhone app. Depression is something we usually hide. But maybe there’s an app that will bring us closer to somebody in the same state of mind?

Shamus is CEO of Cambridge Temperature Concepts, a spin-o from the University of Cambridge. The company’s First product is DuoFertility, which helps women who have had difficulties getting pregnant do so more easily – whilst being affordable, totally natural and drug-free.

As well as being an entrepreneur, Alexander is a spine surgeon, PhD student, and teacher to medical students in Gothenburg. Somehow he’s managed to fit in living in seven countries and speaking six languages, all while building a cell-phone based dermatology service that we featured at Health 2.0 Europe in 2011 and in San Francisco last month.
