Alex Fair, CEO, FairCareMD
When Alex tried to get a fair price for check-ups for his kids with no insurance, he found he was being charged five times as much as his old insurance company. So he designed and built FairCareMD, an online automated Direct Provider Access platform that lets patients comparison shop, negotiate, and contract for care. Alex has also recently taken over the NY Health 2.0 Chapter. And, yes, that is his real name.
David Beyer, Co-Founder & CEO, Cortex
The Advisory Board Company is sometimes accused of interviewing lots of hospital executives and selling their own ideas back to them for big money. Ex-employee David thinks he can cut out the middle man, and has started Cortex—a new web-based application providing knowledge exchange for hospital executives.
Alex joined MedicExchange in September 2008 and has been creating its niche as a social network helping medical purchasers. It’s a far cry from his previous gig, running ourweddingday.com, but he’s taking direct aim at the big GPOs.
Rick Leach, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Health Solutions, A.D.A.M.
After a little re-organization and A.D.A.M’s recent sale, Rick now runs A.D.A.M.’s Health Solutions business unit – and he’s been been busy releasing four new products! Here shows us SmartSites—a service for hospitals to educate and recruit patients.
Terry Douglas, Executive Director, Marketing Strategy, RelayHealth
RelayHealth has grown from its beginnings as a physician eVisit service, to becoming a core SaaS platform connecting doctors, hospitals, and consumers. Now part of giant McKesson, more recently RelayHealth has set its sights on integrating with the world of health information exchanges. Here Terry shows us RelayHealth’s new social network for hospitals, MedGift.
Chris Johnson, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, Performance Clinical
An MD with a Harvard Public Health degree, Chris has turned 4 years of experience installing CPOE systems into Performance Clinical, which improves performance through clinical checklists. It’s a SaaS-based presentation layer for order sets that’s already running (and thrilling the staff) in the cash-strapped Alameda County Medical Center.
Matthew Browning, CEO, YourNurseIsOn.com
YourNurseIsOn is designed to fix a widespread problem: How do you easily alert trusted nurses that there are hospital shifts available, without either paying an agency a fortune or wasting hours of staff time on the phone? Matthew is not only a savvy technologist but also an interesting combination of a nurse, husband, father, warrior, healer and gardener.
Having spent time at Janssen Pharma, Ace started Medical Insight to help consumers find the health-appropriate information for them. In the process he’s created a remarkable search engine, scanning Japanese user-generated health content. Here he’ll discuss his process and showcase its usability.
Roberto is a physician who leads Publicis Healthware, but here he shows us PagineMediche.it. Founded in 2001, it now has more than 90% of Italian physicians represented and 650,000 visits a month—and a fascinating Q&A format.
