Kerry McDermott represented session sponsor West Health and opened the session “Big Data: Tools and Applications for Transforming Care.” Matthew Holt and Indu Subaiya moderated the panel of speakers who presented how their respective companies are addressing the integration of Big Data into physician work-flow, patient-provider communications, and extending the use of EMRs to transform health care. Speakers Colin Hill, Francois de Brantes, Lloyd Dean, Aaron Levie, Chalie Wiggins, Richard Roth, and Frank Williams were joined by demos from Allscripts, athenahealth, drchrono, Box, NotOnly Dev, Alere, and IBM.
Todd Rothenhaus oversees athenahealth’s Network Intelligence division, which focuses on leveraging athenahealth’s network data assets in support of corporate and client performance management, clinical effectiveness, and risk-based payment and provider models. Todd is a nationally recognized expert on the implementation of electronic health record systems and the use of information technology in support of safe, effective, patient-centered care, making him a valuable addition to this panel. He demonstrated the new app, Bugs + Drugs, which combines athenanet data to give community Doctors information into the resistance patterns trending in their specific area to give proper prescriptions and treatment.
